The Dutch fire department is known worldwide for its well-maintained equipment, which is often still in a good condition after its economic life. By means of a number of relatively limited interventions, the lifespan of this equipment can usually be extended by a number of years.

In some cases it is sufficient to provide the equipment with an up-to-date cabinet layout, renovation or overhaul of certain components, signaling up dates, or overhaul of the fire pump, for example, to be able to last for years to come.

Sometimes, however, the decision is made to give existing equipment a completely new role within a fire department, whereby the entire interior needs to be modified.
